Calhoon Named February Employee of the Month at MCCH

MURRAY, KY – Murray-Calloway County Hospital recently named Ray Calhoon Transporter, of the Valet team as the February 2023 Employee of the Month.

Comments from a fellow employee:

Last week I came upon a man who had fallen on the sidewalk. I tried to assist him, however I couldn’t get him up. I went and got a wheelchair from the Emergency Department and tried to get him into the chair, again with no success. Roy walked up and took over. He was able to get the man up and in the wheelchair and took him to the cafeteria. He also had Food Service call him when the man was finished eating and he came back and took him to his desired location. A true example of going above and beyond!

Covalesky Named February Employee of the Month at MCCH

MURRAY, KY – Murray-Calloway County Hospital recently named Caitlin Covalesky, Nursing Assistant, in PCU as the February 2023 Employee of the Month.

Comments from a fellow employee:

Caitlin has been training me in the department for the last month and she has shown me nothing but how to go above and beyond for every single patient. She makes certain that both the patient and the patients loved ones get nothing but the best care. She treats everyone, as they are her own family whether it be looking them in the eye, acknowledging their pain, and giving them a loving touch or if the patient wants someone to joke around with she is more than happy to get the whole room laughing. She knows just about everyone in the hospital, something they enjoy, and how to have a conversation with them. She made my orientation at the hospital very enjoyable and not so daunting learning new things. She has answered every single question with kindness, helped me with anything I needed help with, and made sure to encourage me to do things on my own without overstepping. While we are lucky to work at Murray-Calloway County Hospital, MCCH is lucky to have this amazing hard worker.

MURRAY, KY – Murray-Calloway County Hospital recently named Chelsea Free, Business Office Billing Coordinator as the September 2022 Employee of the Month.

Comments from fellow employees:

We have consolidated positions because of her work ethic. She is currently working as the billing coordinator. We have been able to consolidate her current position into one from two billers we previously had. She has integrity in her work and takes it seriously. This is not just a job for Chelsea. She is invested in the success of MCCH. She will always reach out when she knows we are down people and offer to help. She also takes time to educate other employees on processes and policies when they don’t understand. She will wear any hat and will take on anything that is asked of her without asking why or how. I believe this is the kind of employee that makes their employer a success.

Chelsea is a fabulous employee, huge asset to our department and is so deserving of this award and recognition. Chelsea is an outstanding co-worker that makes a positive impact on our team. She is a hard worker who always goes above and beyond the goals set for our department. Kathy takes the initiative to do things on our unit. She has recently helped me with finding discrepancies in the medication scanning and updated our hemorrhage cart without being asked to do it. She works hard as one of our charge nurses and makes sure the unit runs smoothly everyday she is there. We can always count on Kathy if we are in need to come in and help on the unit. She is a true asset to Perinatal Services and MCCH.

Murray-Calloway County Hospital recently named Brandy Massey as the February 2022 Employee of the Month. Massey is a Nursing Assistant in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). She has been caring for patients at MCCH since February 2020.

Comments from a fellow employee:

Brandy goes above and beyond with her care towards patients. Not only does she do the standard car expected of a CNA, she is always willing to help any fellow staff member no matter their profession. I have witnessed her not only assisting with cleaning, dressing, and washing patients, but also assisting with ventilator patients in the CCU and having EKGs completed with print outs ready and waiting for providers as soon as they walk in the building. She also takes the time to learn about all of the equipment that is in use with her patients and asks questions about how an oxygen mask works or what alarms she should watch out for to contact Respiratory. Often times improving the patient’s speed of care by knowing when it is necessary to call Respiratory STAT or inform that a non-emergent alarm is sounding that can be fixed once our other patients are stable. Brandy is an asset to this hospital and a staple to night shift. That is what qualifies her to receive employee of the month.

Morris Named November Employee of the Month at MCCH

Murray-Calloway County Hospital recently named Lori Morris as the November 2021 Employee of the Month. Morris is a Registered Nurse in the Radiology Department. She has been caring for patients for nearly 40 years in various areas including: Outpatient Surgery, Labor & Delivery, Nursery, PACU, and is currently the Special Procedures Coordinator in Radiology.

“I have loved all the areas I have worked and learned new skills in each of them. I would advise new nurses to learn as many skills as they can because as a nurse you never know what you will need to do next! Nursing is an adventure and a career that you never stop learning. Always treat every patient as you would a member of your own family and you will have a happy, well cared for patient,” said Lori.

Comments from a fellow employee:
Have you just ever been around somebody who you just wanted to work with? That would be Lori Morris. She is just a great, well-rounded nurse. She doesn’t mind sharing her knowledge. She wants me to be just as good at my job as she is. That is huge, when you realize that she has been a nurse for over 39 years. That is a quite a bit of knowledge over the years. If you have ever seen how she builds personal relationships with our patients. They love her. She makes them feel like they are in the best place that they could have ever landed. She makes them feel special. By the time that they leave they feel like they received the best care they could have ever received. Most of all, they know she cares about them and what happens to them.

As far as being a team member, she is the person that you want on your team if you want to win because of her knowledge base, her integrity, and her grit. As far as I am concerned, she is one of the best nurses that this hospital has ever employed. She has taught me so much and continues to do so every single day that I work with her
